Sola | Atlanta, GA | Full-time, In-person
We’re seeking an exceptional engineer to join our team as a Research Engineer. This role is for an engineer who is the best problem solver and fastest learner that they know.
Sola is a venture-backed startup on a mission to build a trusted insurance brand that redefines how people experience insurance. We design smart, transparent policies with the future in mind.
Home insurance is broken. Costs are climbing and legacy systems are holding the industry back. We are building from the ground up using technology to automate risk evaluation, detect structural damage, and eliminate friction. The result is consistent, affordable coverage that delivers when it matters most.
We’ve raised $11.3M to date to build the first vertically integrated insurance company.
Sola has built a simple pricing and risk model based on historical weather patterns to launch our first wind/hail policy. Under this model, we can insure up to $25,000 with specific state and regional restrictions.
You will be responsible for improving and developing these weather models to allow us to expand geographically, sell larger policies, and have more statistically accurate pricing.
Additionally, you will be responsible for leading development on new natural disaster models.
World-class problem solving skills
An ability to understand the why
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
At Sola, we move quickly and hold a high bar. Every team member is expected to take full ownership of their work. We trust each other to execute without micromanagement.
We value clarity, speed, and decisiveness. Meetings are focused, goals are clear, and progress is measured visibly. Our performance metrics are displayed on a TV in the office so the entire team knows what is working and where we need to improve.
If you thrive in environments that value speed, direct feedback, and accountability, you will fit right in.
