DIRECTOR OF INVESTMENT OPERATIONS
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly capable, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking Director of Investment Operations to lead the build-out of an institutional-grade middle office for a rapidly expanding national RIA platform. As the firm scales and moves up-market to serve more sophisticated clients, this leader will elevate operational accuracy, strengthen data integrity, modernize reporting, and help architect a future-ready investment operations ecosystem.
The ideal candidate blends technical depth, process leadership, and team development capability. They enjoy building structure, thrive in fast-paced environments, and bring the sophistication needed to support more complex households, higher reporting expectations, and continued M&A activity. This role offers the opportunity to shape a mission-critical function at a firm undergoing significant growth and operational modernization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build and lead a daily institutional-grade reconciliation program across multiple custodians.
• Oversee IBOR processes, data accuracy, exception management, and break resolution.
• Strengthen data pipelines and support a warehouse-first data model in partnership with technology teams.
• Serve as internal SME for the current portfolio accounting system and support the evaluation of next-generation platforms (e.g., Orion, Addepar, Advent/SS&C).
• Standardize advisor and client reporting across offices and acquired firms, enhancing sophistication for HNW clients.
• Lead investment-operations onboarding for acquisitions, including data mapping, account transitions, and reporting alignment.
• Partner cross-functionally with Advisors, Service, Technology, Data, and Compliance to ensure operational excellence.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a technical operations team; elevate capability and drive continuous improvement.
REQUIREMENTS
• 7–12+ years in RIA, asset management, private wealth, or institutional middle-office environments.
• Proven expertise in daily reconciliation, custodian data feeds, exception resolution, and audit-ready operational controls.
• Strong understanding of securities processing (equities, fixed income, SMAs, structured notes, options overlays, alternatives).
• Experience with portfolio accounting systems such as Tamarac, Envestnet, Orion, Advent, or Black Diamond.
• Advanced Excel skills (Index Match, XLOOKUP, pivot tables) and familiarity with Power Query, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
• Experience improving operational processes, designing scalable workflows, and implementing best practices.
• Leadership experience managing technical or cross-functional teams.

A meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that includes a base salary plus performance-based bonus.
