About the Role:
Arena’s Data Engineers play a vital role in strengthening our data infrastructure and ensuring that our analytics and targeting systems run with precision and speed. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain the data pipelines that help transform complex political data into clear, actionable insights that drive smarter campaign strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Support data lake and data warehouse systems, maintenance processes, and related projects.
- Build and optimize ETL pipelines to ensure data integrity and performance.
- Write and manage Python and SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions for complex data flows.
- Configure, monitor, and resolve errors within our data warehouse’s monitoring and tracking systems.
- Collaborate with analysts, strategists, and creative teams to translate data into business insights and KPIs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs in data warehouse operations.
- Use ETL tools (such as AWS Glue) and programming languages (such as Python) to build scalable solutions.
- Act as a liaison between IT and campaign teams to align technical infrastructure with campaign goals.
Education:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science and Analytics with proven programming and reporting/analytical skills.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of prior hands-on experience writing and managing SQL queries, developing ETL solutions, and working with cloud/big data environments (AWS preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement data warehouse systems or large-scale data processes.
Core Competencies:
- Proficient knowledge of ETL processes and cloud/big data integration.
- Strong experience writing SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
- Extremely self-motivated, detail-oriented, and inquisitive — always seeking to learn and improve processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and quantitative reasoning.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Technical Knowledge:
- Fluent with Python
- Proficient knowledge of AWS tools such as Amazon Lightsail, AWS Lambda, AWS Batch, AWS Glue Crawlers, and AWS S3.
- Proficient knowledge in error monitoring tools like Rollbar
- Proficient knowledge in code versioning tools like GitHub
- Proficient in developing, consuming, and maintaining RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
