We are: a start-up focused on improving the environmental impact of batteries through
innovative recycling processes for battery materials. We are looking for a motivated and
resourceful engineer to help us develop our essential technologies for improving the
sustainability of portable electronics and electric mobility.
Job Description:
This role will advance our research and development efforts in designing and optimizing
the recycling of battery materials. You will be on the front lines of our R&D efforts,
performing experiments, operating processing equipment, and troubleshooting
mechanical/chemical systems to optimize the yield, throughput, and product material
performance.
Key Responsibilities:
● Process Execution: Build, operate, and maintain bench-scale and pilot-scale recycling equipment.
● Experimental Operations: Execute daily runs of recycling processes, monitoring parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates to ensure process stability.
● Sample Preparation: Handle raw materials and prepare output samples for external or internal analysis.
● Data Collection: Log process data meticulously and report on practical observations regarding equipment performance and material behavior.
● Equipment Optimization: Troubleshoot hardware issues, modify test rigs, and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory and process equipment.
● Lab Safety & Management: Maintain a clean and safe workspace, managing chemical inventory and waste disposal in accordance with safety protocols.
Candidate Requirements:
● Education: MS or BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering (or a closely related field).
● Hands-On Experience: Proven experience working with laboratory instruments or operating chemical/mechanical processing equipment. (We want to know what you have built or fixed).
● Work Ethic: Exceptional self-motivation and a "roll up your sleeves" attitude.
● Problem Solving: A resourceful approach to technical challenges.
● Agility: Ability to adapt quickly to changing experimental goals and manage time
effectively without constant supervision.
● Communication: Strong ability to document work and communicate issues clearly to the team.
Ideally, you have:
● Experience working in advanced materials R&D and/or a manufacturing environment.
● Experience in lithium-ion battery recycling, cathode materials, and the related field.
● Knowledge of electrochemistry, materials processing, and material synthesis.
