Job Summary
The Product Engineer works with all levels of the organization to investigate and modify product designs in response to field issues / complaints and by facilitating structured team problem solving.
Duties
- Spend portion of time in plant working with production personnel and identifying and correcting issues.
- Able to understand, analyze, and, resolve combustion issues
- Able to understand, analyze, and, resolve heat transfer issues
- Able to understand, analyze, and resolve, wiring issues
- Understand internal and external component manufacturability capabilities
- Understand how lab test equipment operates and what the data means
- Able to train others on all aspect of the unit’s function
- Drive and promote innovation in ECS products
- Determine technical feasibility of proposed new product projects
- Develop and maintain new product project schedules
- Ensure project schedules are achieved
- Provide regular project updates to ECS Management Team
- Ensure Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Sales/Marketing are involved with the product design to promote Design for Manufacturing requirements and create inter-company project buy-in
- Specify material requirements whether sourced or internal
- Ensure project budget is met
- Develop functional specifications
- Responsible for engineering documentation accuracy for Empire new products and changes on existing products
- Costed BOM development and approval
- Fabricated part drawings, concepts, and approval
- Purchased part drawings, concepts, and approval
- Material specifications approval
- Assembly drawings and specifications approval
- Visual work instructions approval
- Instruction manuals development and approval
- Technical accuracy of brochures and literature
- Define field testing requirements; oversee and analyze results
- Understand agency requirements
- Ensure agency approval
- CSA, UL, ETL, W-H
- Efficiency certification for DOE, GAMA, Canadian P.4, California Energy Commission
- Stay current with changes in:
- Market trends
- Government standards
- Testing standards
- Competition
- Technology
- Regular updates of the department with supervisor (weekly minimum)
- Project status
- Allocation of resources
- Project expenses
- Change orders/change requests
- Draft meeting agenda
- Draft meeting notes
- Responsible for Empire products meeting published performance and aesthetics goals
- Review and signoff on TDF’s
- Ensure ECO’s are drafted and properly implemented in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Manufacturing 3 years (Preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
