About the Role
We are seeking a well-rounded, hands-on Embedded Electronics Engineer to join our growing product development team. This is a new position as EMX continues to expand its in-house engineering capabilities. You will become the fourth member of our electronics/firmware engineering group and play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting our next generation of products.
EMX designs and manufactures products on-site in Cleveland, Ohio, and we take pride in delivering high-quality, Made in the USA solutions. Achieving this requires strong engineering fundamentals, cost-conscious design practices, and close collaboration across disciplines. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across the full product lifecycle—from concept through production and sustaining engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded electronic circuits utilizing microcontrollers and supporting analog and digital circuitry.
- Design custom sensor interfaces, analog signal conditioning, and digital logic circuits.
- Create schematics and PCB layouts using EAGLE or similar CAD tools.
- Perform circuit simulation and analysis using tools such as LTspice.
- Prototype, test, debug, and validate new electronic designs.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs).
- Support the transfer of products from development to production within the same facility.
- Develop product test methods, work instructions, and occasionally design test fixtures.
- Support sustaining engineering activities, alternate part approvals, and product improvements.
- Participate in product lifecycle, reliability, and validation testing.
- Assist with regulatory and compliance testing (UL, CSA, CE, etc.).
- Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and operations teams.
- Perform other engineering tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics design including circuit design, firmware development and PCB layout.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (EAGLE or similar).
- Strong understanding of embedded electronics, analog and digital circuit design.
- Hands-on experience with SMT hand soldering and board-level modifications.
- Familiarity with electronic component supply chains and part availability considerations.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to work on-site in Garfield Heights, Ohio, and occasionally work extended hours to meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with embedded programming for microcontrollers principally in C.
- Experience with SPICE electronics simulation tools.
- Experience with power supply design to support analog and digital circuitry
- Experience supporting products through production and sustaining engineering phases.
- Familiarity with product compliance and certification processes (UL, CSA, CE).
- Experience working closely with manufacturing and suppliers.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
