POSITION OVERVIEW
The Quality Engineer is responsible for performing critical functions in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment, supporting a company that plays a vital role in national defense. The primary responsibilities include review and comprehension of complex drawings, review of drawings for manufacturing, solid model review, inspection planning, contract execution and support of inspection activities. In this position, attention to detail is crucial. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
KEY RESPONBILITITES
Quality Engineering
- Support and comply with Cogitic’s Quality Management System
- Utilize and gain proficiency in ProShop ERP software for daily tasks and projects
- Comprehend and analyze drawings at contract review to determine if all the information is available, understood and correct at a stage in the process where the impact to team product is minimized
- Drawing review and manage preparation for manufacturing (bubble drawings & redacting large drawing sets to applicable sheets)
- Develop outside drawings with an understanding of what the variations of outside suppliers will require to complete the desired effect
- Solid model review and approval, collaborate with engineering to ensure solid models meet the corresponding print and is set up for manufacturing planning to succeed
- Identify critical features and how the features have an effect on process methodologies
- Work with manufacturing team to ensure in-process inspection is supporting conformance and rapid delivery
- Collaborate with manufacturing planning, programming and CNC operators to provide input to issues / concerns, best practices, eliminate risks and build robust plan for processing and execution
- Collaborate with the Mission Assurance and Engineering team to meet customer requirements
- Must be able to identify constraints or potential risks to project completion and communicate these risks to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
Expected Results
- Gain expert level proficiency in ProShop ERP software
- Required deliverables are complete prior to scheduled production and project milestone dates 100% of the time
- Effective collaboration and communication are demonstrated through daily interactions and execution of tasks
- Maintain a backlog of work <25% of all open orders
Quality, Safety, & Compliance
- Ensure adherence with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, compliance requirements, and company standards including the proper use of all designated safety equipment including personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field or combination of higher education and equivalent experience.
- Five years of relevant experience in reviewing drawings and specifications, preferred experience with highly complex, high mix, low volume manufacturing, preferred experience with government or military related contracts and military specifications.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (ProShop experience preferred), machine shops, and quality processes.
- Working knowledge of technical requirements, and the ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of 3D modeling software, SolidWorks experience preferred
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, project management methodologies, and systems.
- Eligible to hold a security clearance.
- Working knowledge and experience with CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work in an office environment or remotely.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Capability to operate technology for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time.
- Up to 10% travel, as required.
