Overview
The Project Controls Specialist IV role will lead key project controls activities across schedule, cost, progress measurement, and performance reporting for a major Client / midstream capital project. The ideal candidate brings hands-on Primavera P6 experience and a strong understanding of EPC project execution in heavy industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules in Primavera P6 (CPM logic, constraints, baselines, critical path analysis).
• Support or lead cost control activities including cost coding/WBS alignment, commitments, accruals, forecasting, and variance analysis (as applicable).
• Establish and maintain progress measurement rules and reporting (earned value/S-curves, productivity, SPI/CPI or equivalent performance metrics).
• Prepare weekly and monthly project controls deliverables: schedule narratives, look-aheads, performance dashboards, risk/opportunity and change/trend reporting.
• Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Contracts to validate progress, identify impacts, and develop recovery/mitigation plans.
• Support change management: maintain change/trend logs; evaluate schedule and/or cost impacts; contribute to change order backup as needed.
• Participate in project reviews and planning sessions; provide clear executive-ready insights on drivers, risks, and recovery actions.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of project controls experience in Client, midstream, oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, power, or heavy industrial construction.
• Strong Primavera P6 proficiency (creating/updating logic-driven schedules; baseline control; critical path analysis).
• Experience supporting EPC project execution and construction progress measurement.
• Advanced Excel skills; strong reporting and communication abilities.
• Ability to work onsite and interface directly with project leadership and field teams.
• Integrated cost/schedule controls experience; forecasting (EAC/ETC) and cash flow.
• Experience with cost systems or tools (SAP, EcoSys, Deltek, Prism, Power BI, etc.).
• Commissioning/turnover and late-phase schedule experience.
• Familiarity with change management, claims support, and time impact analysis.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related technical discipline required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
