Job Description
This role is an Electrical Engineering / System Architectural role. This role will be responsible for system power / energy management design. Background: Efficient H2 generation requires extremely effective use of electricity. This role is responsible for creatively designing a system that optimizes the use of power for the electrolysis process while providing power to manage the associated systems, including signals and safety management so our systems can complete purification, compression, storage and dispensing of hydrogen. Primarily the applicant would be Identifying facility power (supply) requirements, evaluating the quality/influence of supplied power on our equipment, as well as 0-10VDC/4-20ma control signal/circuit design. Additionally, the person in this role would preferably have solid to extensive knowledge of sensor and control integration as well as PLC programming experience.
Our Hydrogen systems have system controls managing the operations and interactions of various subsystems. It will be your job to become an expert in current designs to support and eventually lead continuous improvement activities. A working knowledge of Automation - Telemetry - Systems for monitoring and communications would be beneficial. Our systems are located around the world and are designed to include remote system management for troubleshooting, repair, access control, and an intuitive user interface. These systems will require expansion and we will be developing a virtual control room for constant near real time monitoring to facilitate effective maintenance and service. Knowledge of SCADA systems would be helpful to you. Finally, while we are still a small company, you may also be asked to support new product design and specs, as well as troubleshooting of existing equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
· This role will report to the Director of Engineering
· Become an expert on our H2 control systems and associated codes and standards.
· Innovate ways to improve / increase system efficiency
· Create standardized prints for electrical systems – with help from team
· Work with the team to create troubleshooting training manuals for service teams to ensure high levels of uptime for our electrolyzer systems
· Work with manufacturing team to build robust and clear operator instructions for manufacturing of control systems
· Lead change management for the electrical department
· Update electrical prints, programming and other product documentation including human-machine interfaces (HMI) and programmable logic controllers (PLC) for in-house and customer use
· Support development and methodology to troubleshoot of SCADA systems
Qualifications
· Experience in electrical design and the use of electrical drafting software (Preferably SolidWorks Electrical)
· Bachelors in Engineering or Technology (Electrical, or Computer Science)
· 5-10 yrs of work experience in electrical systems
· Experience with Electrical (480V 3-phase AC MAIN to 5V DC control), pneumatic and hydraulic systems
· EZ/IO, PLC ladder logic,
· Experience leading a team
· Can work independently, but also effective in a collaborative environment
· 2 or more years of experience in factory setting
· 2 or more years of experience programming PLCs
· Knowledge of software/tools (Ladder logic and/or function block based)
· Experience with SCADA systems a plus
· Experience in project management
· Willingness to wear many hats as we build this company
