Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Power & MagneticsSoutheastern Wisconsin | OnsiteBuild It. Test It. Fix It. Own It.Most engineering roles stop at design. This one doesn't.Our client is a specialized, growing engineering and manufacturing organization that designs and builds custom power solutions for demanding applications across industrial automation, medical technology, and advanced systems. This isn't theoretical work. These are real products, built, tested, and deployed in environments where performance and reliability matter. This role sits at the center of it.You'll take designs from concept through production. You'll work hands-on in the lab. You'll collaborate directly with manufacturing. And you'll solve real problems when things don't go as planned. If you want full ownership and visible impact, this is that move. What You'll Do: Design high-frequency magnetic components (transformers, inductors, chokes) used in power conversion systems Work within typical ranges of 5kHz-500kHz and 50W-50kW+ Translate customer requirements into practical, manufacturable designs Build, test, and validate prototypes in a lab environment Work directly with manufacturing to release designs into production Troubleshoot production and field issues, lead root cause analysis and corrective actions Support existing products while driving new design work Contribute to continuous improvement in design methods, tools, and processes What You Bring: Experience designing high-frequency magnetics OR strong adjacent experience in: Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) Power electronics / power conversion systems Experience working in high-frequency environments (typically 5kHz and above) Strong understanding of magnetics fundamentals: Core losses (hysteresis, eddy currents) Copper losses (I2R, skin/proximity effects) Hands-on experience with: Lab testing and validation Prototype builds or design verification Experience supporting products in production and troubleshooting issues Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift between projectsImportant to Know: This is not a pure design or simulation role You will spend meaningful time in the lab and supporting production The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to handle both new design and existing product challengesWhat Will Set You Apart: Experience designing transformers and inductors from the ground up Experience with SMPS topologies and power conversion systems Exposure to electromagnetic modeling tools (ANSYS Maxwell or similar) Familiarity with UL / IEC standards 3D CAD experience (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.) Track record of learning new tools and technologies quickly Who Thrives Here: Engineers who want to see their work built and used People who are comfortable moving between design, testing, and troubleshooting Individuals who prefer variety and ownership over narrow specialization Practical problem-solvers - not purely academic or research-focused engineers Why Make the Move: Own the full lifecycle - take designs from concept through prototype, testing, and into production Work on real applications - your designs are used in critical systems where performance and reliability matter Get out of the silo - work directly with manufacturing, testing, and customers instead of handing work off Build and learn faster - small team, less bureaucracy, more exposure across the business See the impact of your work - what you design gets built, tested, and usedCompensation & Location: Base salary range: $90,000 - $160,000+, depending on experience and fit Bonus potential included Location: Milwaukee, WI (north suburbs - Ozaukee County) This is an onsite role Relocation support may be available for the right candidateAdditional Considerations: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship Formal education in Electrical Engineering or a related field is helpful, but not required Equivalent hands-on experience in power electronics or magnetics design is highly valuedApply now to be considered.Qualified candidates will be contacted directly to discuss the role and next steps.* Please note all resumes and candidate information submitted are kept in the strictest confidence.
