Senior Mechanical Lead Field Service Advisor - Gas Turbines & Rotating Equipment
Basis North America is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Lead Field Service Advisor for project-based assignments involving gas turbines and associated rotating equipment within the power generation, LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on field experience leading mechanical installation, maintenance, commissioning, startup, outage, overhaul, and equipment-repair activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical installation, commissioning, startup, maintenance, and outage activities.
- Perform and supervise major overhauls, minor overhauls, combustion inspections, hot gas path inspections, and borescope inspections.
- Direct equipment disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, alignment, testing, and return-to-service activities.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures involving gas turbines and associated rotating equipment.
- Supervise field crews, subcontractors, and technical personnel.
- Coordinate daily work activities, schedules, technical documentation, tooling, materials, and progress reports.
- Conduct daily meetings with customers and project stakeholders.
- Support equipment upgrades, module replacements, fuel conversions, punch-list closure, handover, and final acceptance.
- Ensure compliance with OEM procedures, quality requirements, and site safety standards.
- Minimize the impact of field activities on project schedules, costs, equipment integrity, and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 20 years of mechanical field service experience with gas turbines or comparable rotating equipment.
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical FSE, Lead Field Advisor, Mechanical Supervisor, Superintendent, Platform Leader, or Site Manager.
- Extensive hands-on experience with heavy-duty and/or aeroderivative gas turbines.
- Experience with installation, commissioning, startup, maintenance, major inspections, overhauls, alignment, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field crews and subcontractors.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, OEM procedures, inspection reports, and equipment documentation.
- Strong customer communication, leadership, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Ability and willingness to travel for domestic and international assignments.
Relevant Equipment Experience
Candidates should have experience with one or more of the following:
- GE heavy-duty gas turbines, including Frames 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9.
- LM2500, LM2500+, PGT25, PGT25+, or comparable aeroderivative gas turbines.
- Steam turbines and associated stop and governor valves.
- Centrifugal compressors, including BCL, MCL, or PCL models.
- Electrical generators, including Brush generators.
- Pumps, gearboxes, lubrication systems, fuel systems, gas skids, and turbine auxiliary systems.
Preferred Experience
- LNG plants, power generation facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, offshore platforms, or FPSO projects.
- Generator disassembly, rotor or field removal, balancing, realignment, repair, and failure recovery.
- Compressor-train and turbine-generator alignment.
- Mechanical equipment repairs following major operational failures.
- QA/QC inspection, material management, or technical material coordination.
- OEM technical training.
- Valid BOSIET, H2S, confined-space, controlled-bolting, or equivalent safety certifications, as applicable.
