The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.Scope of RoleCorning's fiber optic cable manufacturing team is seeking a Process Engineer to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes that drive quality, efficiency, and capability improvements. This is a hands-on engineering role with broad project ownership - from data-driven process analysis and problem solving to capital equipment introduction and new technology transfer.Primary Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesAnalyze process data to assess capability, monitor trends, and drive continued manufacturing excellenceProvide problem-solving support to production operations; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using scientific, data-driven methodsIdentify, prioritize, and manage process improvement and cost reduction projectsOversee all aspects of capital equipment introduction - including financial justification, design, specification, procurement, qualification, and training documentationSupport the transfer of new cabling technologies, materials, and processes from development to production; ensure repeatability and completeness of all production and maintenance documentationPartner with operators, maintenance, and engineering teams to develop and implement process, equipment, and safety improvementsLocation, Work Hours & Travel RequirementsLocation: Newton, NCTravel: Less than 10%Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm; off-shift support as neededExperiences/Education - RequiredBachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Experiences/Education - DesiredExperience with statistical software such as OriginPro or MinitabKnowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DMAIC, PDCA)Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies, cabling processes and equipment, and/or UV curable technologiesSix Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experienceProject management experience including cost estimation, planning, and executionExperience programming PLCs in a manufacturing environmentExperience with statistical process control fundamentalsApplies systematic, data-driven problem-solving to complex process and equipment challenges in a manufacturing environmentCollaborates with engineering, operations, and technology teams to develop and implement integrated solutionsCommunicates technical findings and project updates clearly to cross-functional teams and leadershipManages multiple concurrent projects with clear accountability for scope, timeline, and deliverablesThis position does not support immigration sponsorship.The range for this position is $84,932.00 - $116,782.00 assuming full time status.
