Job DescriptionPMD's PMIC & PoL Business Unit (BU) is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Applications Engineer. Our Applications Engineers are experts in DC-DC converter applications and play a key role in product definition and application validation during new product development (NPD), and customer technical support throughout the product lifecycle.
As a PMIC & PoL Business Unit Applications Engineer you'll collaborate with an experienced and co-located engineering team and leverage onsemi's global support network to drive customer success. As a trusted technical advisor to customer application engineers (front line support), field application engineers (FAE) and our customers, you'll help solve complex power management challenges, accelerate product development, and contribute to the success of industry-leading products.
Responsibilities- Provide technical customer support for a portfolio of power management products including converters, controllers, and drivers
- Provide direct customer support for key customers
- Utilize cross-functional teams such as Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Engineering as needed
- Support onsemi's customer apps and FAEs for issues escalated to BU
- Create and present product training material to onsemi's technical support community, i.e., FAE and Sales
- Author and publish application notes and knowledge-based articles
- Support NPD Applications Engineering activities
- Strategize with Product Definition and Design Leads on new product requirements
- Represent BU Applications during all phases of NPD
- Create customer facing collateral including EVB, GUI, User Guide, model, design aid, and datasheet
- Validate new products for Application functionality on bench
Qualifications- BSEE or MSEE with a focus on power electronics (or equivalent)
- 5 to 10+ years minimum professional experience with switching power converters, controllers, and drivers
- Proficient with simulation tools, especially SIMPLIS
- Schematic capture and PCB layout experience, Altium preferred (including library management)
- Effective circuit debug skills in an engineering lab
- Bench test equipment automation development (nice to have)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $131,100.00 to $222,755.00, This range is exclusiveof fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
