About the Role
Station 66 Networks is looking for a Data Engineer to build and maintain the systems that collect, process, and organise business data. You'll develop reliable data pipelines, manage data workflows, and help ensure that information is accurate, accessible, and ready for analysis.
We're looking for someone who can approach technical problems methodically, write maintainable code, and take responsibility for the quality of data moving through our systems. You'll work with colleagues to understand data requirements, resolve pipeline issues, and improve the reliability of existing processes.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain data pipelines that collect and transform information from different sources.
- Develop data processing workflows that support reporting, analytics, and operational requirements.
- Design and maintain databases, tables, and data models suited to business needs.
- Validate incoming data and investigate missing, duplicated, or inconsistent records.
- Monitor scheduled data jobs and troubleshoot pipeline failures.
- Write and maintain scripts to automate data processing and routine maintenance tasks.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and efficiency of data workflows.
- Work with analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Implement appropriate data quality checks and document validation procedures.
- Maintain clear technical documentation covering data sources, transformations, dependencies, and pipeline operations.
- Support data access controls and follow appropriate security and privacy practices.
- Test changes before deployment and verify that data outputs meet expected requirements.
- Identify recurring technical issues and recommend practical improvements.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in data engineering, database development, data integration, or a related technical role.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Programming or scripting skills in Python or another suitable language.
- Understanding of data pipelines, data transformation, and ETL or ELT processes.
- Ability to investigate data quality issues and identify their underlying causes.
- Familiarity with data modelling and database performance optimisation.
- Understanding of version control, testing, and documented development practices.
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms or data processing services is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail when validating data and reviewing code.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical colleagues.
What We Expect
We expect data to be checked carefully, code to be tested, and technical issues to be reported honestly. When a pipeline fails or a source produces unexpected results, you should investigate the cause, document your findings, and communicate the impact to the people who depend on that data.
You'll also be expected to keep your work organised, follow agreed development practices, and look for practical ways to improve data quality and system reliability. We value engineers who take ownership of problems and explain technical limitations clearly rather than making assumptions about results.
Working Schedule
This is a full-time position with a standard Monday–Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The work location was not specified in the information provided.
How to Apply
Submit your Resume highlighting your experience with data pipelines, SQL, programming, databases, and data transformation. Include examples of relevant projects, the technologies you used, and how you addressed data quality or processing challenges.
