OverviewBuild your strategic edge. Take on bigger challenges. Shape what’s next. Some HR roles are about keeping things running. This one is about helping a technology business set the course for what comes next. We’re looking for a HR Business Partner to support our global Product, Engineering, and QA Teams. You are someone who’s built a foundation in HR and is ready to tackle business challenges and grow toward the next level. You’ll work with our tech leaders in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift, the questions aren’t always easy, and your perspective matters.
The best part? You won’t be figuring it out on your own. You’ll join an established HR team with playbooks, experienced leaders, and a collaborative culture. We’re a financially stable tech company, not a startup, and we invest in building talent and promoting from within.
Starting base pay for this role is between $95,000 and $115,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, training, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will be eligible for a bonus as well as competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, wellness reimbursement, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match. We offer vacation and sick leave benefits (under a flexible time off policy in most states).
Responsibilities
What you’ll do
- Think beyond the ask. Connect business priorities to workforce planning, org design, and team effectiveness.
- Deliver white-glove partnership. Make HR easy to work with, and bring a balanced perspective. Recommend what’s right for the business, not just what’s requested.
- Influence, don’t just advise. Build credibility with strong personalities, give advice backed by data, and help leaders see a path forward.
- Coach people through complexity. Advise managers on performance, employee relations, development, compliance, and conflict resolution.
- Make change work. Help teams navigate our evolving business without losing sight of people or performance.
- Own core HR processes. Support performance management, talent reviews, compensation, leave administration, benefits, onboarding and new hire orientations, separations, and mobility.
- Plan for the future. Work with Talent Acquisition to define the right candidate profile for staffing needs, and design succession plans for critical roles.
- Advise on hiring and terminations. Give leadership guidance on staffing decisions and separations.
- Lead projects and drive improvement. Manage cross-functional HR projects, from simple to complex, and push for positive changes within the people management function.
- Bring the broader picture. Work across HR, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and HR Operations to deliver consistent solutions, including for global teams adapting to regional needs.
- Put AI to work, and push it further. Experiment with new ways to apply AI across our HR team.
Who you are
- A generalist ready for the next step. You may have been the HR department of one at a smaller company and want to join a larger team where you can focus on business partnership and shed some admin load. Or you have a strong foundation in HR Operations and are ready to grow into an HR Business Partner role.
- Service-oriented with a backbone. You’re responsive and proactive, and you know great partnership sometimes means asking tough questions or recommending a different path.
- A learner. You want to understand how the organization operates, not just respond to its requests.
- Confidence under pressure. You can navigate grey area, competing priorities, and varying personalities without losing your judgment.
- Good instincts. You know when to use a template, when to question the status quo, and when you need air cover.
- Solid communication. You build trust, deliver feedback with professionalism and heart, and can influence stakeholders.
- Collaborative. You like working across teams and will grab a shovel when someone else needs a hand.
- Hybrid-Ready. You are able to work a hybrid schedule (2-3 days per week) in our Chicago office.
