SAP IT Business Analyst
Client: Global Retailer/Supply Chain
Location: Toronto. Hybrid: 3 days in office
Duration of Contract/Perm: Contract is set till August 2026. High probability of extension.
Hours/week: 40
Start date: October 2025
Overview:
The SAP Operations IT Business Analyst (IT BA) plays a key role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and IT teams to deliver innovative SAP solutions that optimize operational processes. This role requires expertise in SAP systems, particularly S/4HANA, and a strong ability to translate business needs into technical specifications. The IT BA will focus on enhancing operational workflows such as supply chain, procurement, and inventory management while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Partner with operations teams to gather, document, and analyze business requirements for SAP-related initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and process walkthroughs to understand business needs and pain points.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing insights into SAP capabilities and solutions.
Requirements Management:
- Develop detailed functional and non-functional requirements for SAP modules related to operations (e.g., MM, WM, PP).
- Create use cases, user stories, process flows, and business models to articulate requirements clearly.
- Ensure traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Solution Design & Delivery:
- Collaborate with SAP technical teams to design solutions that meet operational requirements.
- Support system configuration, integration, and customization efforts, ensuring alignment with business processes.
- Validate solutions during testing phases, ensuring they meet documented requirements and deliver expected outcomes.
- Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for process improvement during project execution.
Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze existing operational workflows and recommend enhancements leveraging SAP functionalities.
- Stay updated on SAP S/4HANA advancements and operational best practices to drive innovation.
Skills & Expertise
- SAP Operations Expertise: Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA modules for operations, including MM (Materials Management), WM (Warehouse Management), and PP (Production Planning).
- Business Process Analysis: Proven ability to evaluate operational workflows and identify areas for optimization.
- Requirements Management: Expertise in developing comprehensive documentation, including use cases, process flows, and user stories.
- Technical Acumen: Familiarity with SAP configurations, system integrations, and end-to-end implementation processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and facilitation skills to gather requirements and manage expectations effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose practical solutions.
- Tools Proficiency: Skilled in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, and SAP-specific modules.
- Methodologies: Experience with both Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 3+ years specializing in SAP operations projects.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), PMI-PBA, or SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate).
- Proven track record of delivering SAP-focused projects in complex, cross-functional environments.
- Strong understanding of operational processes in industries like supply chain, manufacturing, or consumer goods.
