The Logistics Engineer is responsible for supporting the material strategy in an effort to optimize material storage & flow of parts through the production facility. They will work with Purchasing, Planning, Product & Manufacturing Engineering, and Production, to ensure that processes are implemented which support the manufacturing vision & strategy, through the plan for every part.
Processes & Design:

Design, implement, sustain, & improve the PFEP (Plan for Every Part) for areas of responsibility – in support of the manufacturing strategy.

Develop processes & layouts to optimize material flow from receiving to assembly point-of-use, using a variety of storage & conveyance methods; Kanban, kitting, repackaging, sequencing, etc.

Work closely with manufacturing engineering & material handling departments to design, implement, sustain, & improve material handling processes

Work with purchasing & planning to implement & improve the material flow plan

Create & maintain Visual Work Instructions for material handling processes

Audit processes by gathering feedback, analyzing data, & measuring KPIs
-
Identify & lead implementation of improvements in-line with department & organizational objectives.
New Product/Part Introduction

Analyze BOMs for new part introduction & support the NPI process
-
Responsible for logistics engineering portion of ECN/ECO process
-
Lead project design & implementation for new product, warehouse, & part introduction of low to medium complexity
Problem Identification & Continuous Improvement

Resolve logistics, SAP, & safety issues of medium to high complexity
-
Audit processes by gathering feedback, analyzing data, & measuring KPIs

Identify & lead implementation of improvements of low to medium complexity in-line with department & organizational objectives.
Packaging And Design Responsibilities:

Work with Purchasing on implementation & improvement of material packaging, including the use of returnable packaging.

Identify packaging improvements in line with PFEP strategy
Project Management & Continuous Improvement

Lead Kaizen and lean events to improve current state processes
-
Facilitate improvement projects which support department & organizational goals in areas of safety, quality, schedule attainment, & efficiency.

Occasionally lead small teams of hourly employees on special projects

Occasionally present to senior management on status of projects
Safety:

Perform all job functions is a safe manner and maintain safety awareness.

Support ergonomics and safety within Internal Logistics department.

Implement ergonomic improvements within the logistics department
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline required.

Experience with SAP, or similar ERP software required.

3+ years of experience in logistics engineering, material control, or industrial/manufacturing engineering required

Proficient verbal , written and group communication skills required.

Strong data analysis skills – able to gather & organize data from variety of sources, including; ERP systems data, engineering drawings, Microsoft Excel, Access

Experience with logistics engineering responsibilities of ECN/ECO + new product introduction process required.

Experience with 2D CAD software required.

Experience managing multiple priorities required.

APICS CPIM, CTLD, or CSCP certification strongly preferred.

Experience with Warehouse Management Systems preferred
