Job#: 3020008
Job Description:
Apex Systems is currently hiring for a Project Manager for one of our large Banking clients who will support a mix of technology and procedure-update projects within the regulatory and financial crimes space.
Location: Hybrid – SAN ANTONIO TX, CHARLOTTE NC, CHANDLER AZ
Onsite expectation: 3 days onsite per week
Pay range: $52.50 - $56/HR
Contract Length: 12 months
Note: We are unable to consider C2C or third-party submissions.
This is a utility-player position requiring fast ramp-up, minimal oversight, and strong end‑to‑end project ownership. Workload is split between financial crimes procedure updates and IT implementations, but the primary focus is managing data defects tied to regulatory reporting (2052A). Candidate must operate in a blended wagile environment and function more like a consulting‑style PM who drives problem‑solving, not an order taker.
Must‑Haves (Manager’s Priority Order)
- Enterprise level banking services experience (strong preference).
- Regulatory environment experience.
- Regulatory reporting experience (2052A is a major plus, any reg is fine).
- Strong end‑to‑end project management across BOTH procedural and data defect work.
- Experience in both waterfall and agile/wagile environments.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to drive people‑impacting work, not just administrative PM tasks.
Nice‑to‑Haves
- MS Project (preferred; Excel acceptable).
- Jira / Confluence exposure (not heavily used).
- Prior Wells Fargo experience.
- Experience with product management or working in a product‑owner environment.
- Regulatory reporting experience specific to 2052A.
- Experience in financial crimes procedures or customer due‑diligence policy work.
Soft Skill Fit
- Consulting‑style PM: problem solver, facilitator, able to get people to solutions.
- Comfortable managing conflict and navigating ambiguity.
- Leads with curiosity; asks “why” to understand root issues.
- Self‑directed, proactive, and able to maintain momentum without hand‑holding.
Project Overview
- Majority of workload: Managing cyclical data defects tied to regulatory reporting (2052A). Defects are identified through a standard process; remediation is not standardized and requires coordination across product, data management, and other internal teams.
- Smaller portion: Financial crimes procedure updates and IT implementations related to new customer identification and due‑diligence policies.
- Projects are ongoing; candidate will inherit active work and must quickly absorb the transition plan.
Core Responsibilities
- End‑to‑end management of technology and procedure-update projects.
- Primary ownership of data‑defect remediation for regulatory reporting (2052A).
- Drive issue resolution by identifying stakeholders, facilitating problem‑solving, and ensuring fixes are implemented and sustained.
- Manage BAU updates to procedures/forms tied to financial crimes policies (customer identification, due diligence).
- Partner with product teams and data management teams to move work through the organization.
- Scope work (PMs do not build BRDs but must understand what needs to happen).
- Produce clear status reporting and communicate progress to leadership.
- Potentially prepare decks for senior leadership.
- Step into ongoing projects and maintain momentum with little onboarding time.
