Job Title : High-Pressure & Fiber Optic Test Technician
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12-hour shifts; weekends as required.

Job Summary
The F.A.T. Technician is responsible for performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), verification testing, and related activities to ensure the quality, integrity, and safety of OSS Umbilicals and associated products prior to client delivery.
Core Functions
- Perform fiber-optic testing, fusion splicing, and OTDR analysis.
- Conduct low- and medium-voltage cable testing, including resistance, insulation, attenuation, impedance, and Hi-Pot testing.
- Perform and support hydrostatic pressure testing of umbilicals and products.
- Set up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on high-pressure test equipment and pumps.
- Record, interpret, and validate test data using approved digital systems.
- Troubleshoot products and test equipment and support failure investigations.
- Identify and document NCRs and support corrective actions.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow all PPE and LOTO procedures.
- Communicate testing status, results, and shift handovers clearly.
Key Requirements
- Technical Testing Expertise:
Demonstrated hands-on experience in fiber-optic fusion splicing and OTDR testing, as well as low-voltage (=1000 V) and medium-voltage (=6000 V) cable testing. Candidates with primarily electrical installation or retail network troubleshooting experience are not suitable.
- High-Pressure Testing Experience:
Proven experience performing hydrostatic pressure testing within the 5,000-25,000 PSI range (up to 30,000 PSI preferred). Shipyard hydraulic testing experience alone is not considered transferable.
- Specialized Equipment & Documentation:
Ability to operate and maintain high-pressure pumps and testing equipment, interpret electrical, fiber-optic, and hydraulic schematics, accurately record digital test data, identify non-conformances, and comply with all safety, quality, and procedural requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Relevant experience aligned with factory testing, pressure testing, and fiber-optic testing responsibilities.
- Local candidate to the Mobile, Alabama area.
