LDA Innovations inc. (DBA LFC Systems) is a fast-moving start-up focused on building the next generation of automated hot food vending machines. LFC will introduce our first product, a hot dog vending machine that separately cooks a hot dog, warms a bun, and delivers the assembled fresh product in a minute, to the market this summer. We expect LFC to grow rapidly as we scale to meet the exploding demand for automated fresh food vending machines. We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with 3-10 years’ experience to play a key role in transitioning our field-tested prototype machine to a production machine.
Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll help design and develop mechanical systems for our automated food vending machines—including heating systems, dispensing mechanisms, enclosures, and internal sub-assemblies. You will work directly with the co-founder/inventor of the original hot dog vending machine, gaining expertise in our existing technology and leveraging that technology to develop future robotic fresh food vending machines. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who enjoys building things, solving practical problems, and working closely with a small team.
Key Responsibilities
- Become expert in all aspects of our prototype hot dog vending machine
- Document design modifications and BOM changes from the prototype to the production machine
- Assist in designing mechanical components and assemblies for vending machines
- Create and modify CAD models and technical drawings (SolidWorks)
- Build, assemble, and test prototypes (very hands-on role)
- Work on mechanisms involving food handling & storage, heating systems, and dispensing
- Collaborating with electrical and software engineers on integrated systems
- Identify improvements to reduce cost, and increase manufacturability and reliability
- Work with vendors and manufacturers on parts and fabrication
- Experience with developing electromechanical systems or robotics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Basic proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks)
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Great attention to detail and demonstrated ability to document designs
- Hands-on experience (projects, internships, labs, or personal builds)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with prototyping tools (3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, machining, laser cutting)
- Exposure to thermal systems, food-safe design, conveying systems
- Familiarity with DFMA principles
- Internship or project experience in product development
- Ability to communicate effectively with part suppliers and manufacturers.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: [$75,000 – $100,000, depending on experience]
