Role Description
The Senior Hydrometallurgical Engineer will collaborate with the Still Bright team execute research projects related to hydrometallurgical copper extraction,
metal co-product recovery, feedstock diversification, and process integration. This individual will also take the lead on experiments related to arsenic, one of Still Bright’s most important and common co-products, so specific arsenic experience is very strongly preferred.
A successful individual in this role will bring industrial metallurgy experience to conduct research and testing to help seamlessly integrate Still Bright’s revolutionary process into industrial mining infrastructure. The individual should also have deep knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety and characterization processes, especially with respect to handling arsenic-containing materials. As a senior engineer, work is expected to be primarily self-directed with approval and collaboration from the Director of Hydrometallurgy.
What You’ll Do
- Design and execute experiments related to arsenic handling, process optimization for Still Bright’s hydrometallurgical copper extraction process.
- Conduct thorough analysis to determine the optimal conditions for the process, taking into consideration technical and economic viability.
- Collaborate with other engineers and the Director of Hydrometallurgy to ensure your work is informed by other company directives and in line with hydrometallurgy objectives.
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the design and implementation of the new process, and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Maintain detailed documentation of research work and results.
What We Hope You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in metallurgy or related field
- OR Ph.D. or master’s degree in related field PLUS remaining years equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in research design, execution, and analysis.
- Prior experience handling and analyzing arsenic-containing compounds is very strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant metals extraction industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Demonstrated expertise in characterization techniques, both traditional and emerging.
- Desire to leverage a love of metals and chemistry to improve a legacy industry and contribute to a cleaner future.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
