P&D seeks a civil/structural or electrical engineer or designer to join our substation team and serve our investor-owned electric utility clients.
Responsibilities
- Physical design for electrical substations
- Substation document and drawing preparation and review
- QA/QC of substation physical design
- Maintain working knowledge of current applicable codes and standards (i.e. NEC, NESC, IEEE)
- Developing/maintaining proficiency with the applications and tools necessary to complete projects requested by clients
- Stay informed of client, industry, and company news and developments
- Learn and remain aware of services offered by all departments within the company
- Align company capabilities with client needs; find opportunities to offer additional relevant services
Skills and Qualifications

- 4-10 years of related experience, preferably in substation physical design
- Two-year technical degree, or electrical or civil engineering degree
- Experience designing substations for investor-owned utilities is a plus
- Proficiency with AutoCAD required
- Proficiency with Microsoft® Office (required), Office 365 and SharePoint (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Effective problem-solving skills
This position may require occasional travel (approximately 10% of the time). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and must pass a background check prior to employment.
