Title: Performance Engineer
Supervisor: Performance Engineering Supervisor
Purpose: The Performance Engineer will analyze operational performance of solar, wind, or battery energy storage system (BESS) assets via various data acquisition systems (DAS) and develop software tools to measure pre-determined key performance indicators. The selected candidate will support the development of organizational and business processes and standards. Additional responsibilities include (but not limited to) desktop analysis for system issues and provide technical guidance to O&M field service team.
Position responsibilities
· Conduct thorough analyses of plant performance to identify opportunities for improvement and carry out detailed comparisons against weather-adjusted targets.
· Regularly producing deliverables in accordance with contract deadlines such as reoccurring performance reports, guarantee analysis, ROI analysis, NERC GADs reporting etc.
· Regular meetings with customers to review asset health and performance
· Daily monitoring of portfolio, identify opportunities to improve plant performance
· Support the development and monitoring of performance indicators by learning and utilizing statistical modelling software (i.e. PVSyst)
· Support the development of standard business processes for operating plants to ensure maximum uptime
· Interface with internal and external parties (Field, Remote Operations Control Center, Engineering, Asset Management, etc) to facilitate required action for maximized production of assets
· Use internal company tools and workflows to efficiently extract data from a wide range of DAS/SCADA/CMMS systems including N3uron, Bazefield, , GPM, , Salesforce CMMS, and others.
· Use Energy Loss Accounting to calculate lost revenue and liquidated damages as defined by Performance/Availability Guarantees

· Perform ad-hoc forward-looking analysis on plant operations and performance
· Write ad-hoc queries in SQL database to capture data for analysis
· Develop software tools to analyze asset conditions and performance using Power Bi, Reporting Services, Python, SQL and other languages and environments
· Collaborate on ETL / data pipeline improvements
· Ability to serve as the on‑call engineer for the Performance Engineering department as needed, supporting urgent troubleshooting, CMMS escalations, and Response Time Guarantee related emergencies.
· Additional duties as required
Experience:
- 1-3 years of professional experience in utility scale renewable energy, preferably with performance analytics
· Understanding of different ISO regulations and their impact on curtailment, outages etc.
· Experience with CMMS systems a plus
· Knowledge of project financing a plus
· Multi-national company experience a plus
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or comparable work experience: Master’s degree a plus
· Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, particularly Excel
· Must be proficient with Python and/or Power BI; familiarity with an IDE or Code Editor (Visual Studio Code) and version control (e.g., Bitbucket) is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and effectively engage with cross-functional employee groups as well as external stakeholders of all levels and competencies
- Self-starter, able to work independently with the ability to quickly resolve key project issues with little oversight
- High level of professionalism with attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Superior time management and interpersonal skills

Educational Background:
· B.S degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent hands‑on experience in solar operations, data analytics, or technical fieldwork.
- Any courses in PV, BESS, or Wind (i.e. Renewable Energy analysis or design) will be considered a plus
