Northbridge Data Infrastructure is seeking a highly technical systems engineer to support the design, implementation, and long-term maintenance of enterprise-scale data platforms and backend services.
This role involves working with complex infrastructure environments, optimizing large-scale data pipelines, and ensuring system reliability across multi-region deployments. Candidates should be comfortable working independently on technically challenging problems and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services supporting enterprise data platforms
- Build and maintain highly reliable distributed data processing pipelines
- Optimize system performance, fault tolerance, and operational observability
- Develop internal tools for monitoring, automation, and system diagnostics
- Work closely with engineering and data teams to support production data workflows
- Maintain high standards for documentation, operational procedures, and system security
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Must have phD’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years of professional experience in backend systems engineering
- Demonstrated experience designing distributed data processing systems handling at least 10 TB/day of data
- Advanced experience with two or more of the following programming languages:
- Go
- Rust
- Java
- Python
- Experience with at least two of the following distributed technologies:
- Apache Kafka
- Apache Flink
- Apache Spark
- Kubernetes
- Proven experience operating systems in multi-region cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong understanding of Linux system internals, networking, and performance tuning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-heavy environments (finance, healthcare, or infrastructure sectors)
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi)
- Experience maintaining 99.99% uptime systems in production environments
- Contributions to technical documentation, internal frameworks, or open-source tools

Pay: $60,778.17 - $80,130.70 per year
