With this ambition, Veolia is integrating the City of Montreal's Waste Treatment Plan by taking over the operation, maintenance, and management of the new Montreal-East Biomethanization Centre (BEST). This centre will play a crucial role in converting 60,000 tonnes of organic waste per year into biomethane, by valorizing organic matter from Montreal residents.
In this context, Veolia is seeking a candidate for the position of Weighing Operator to ensure the proper functioning of the biomethanization process and the success of the organic matter treatment and overall plant production.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Weighing Attendant will be responsible for receiving and inspecting vehicles, managing the weighing activities of trucks delivering organic materials, and ensuring that the information necessary for invoicing and payments for received products is collected. They will also be responsible for secure access to the site.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the weighing activities of trucks delivering organic materials, processing products and recovery of shipped products;
- Test the proper functioning of the weighing devices as recommended by the manufacturer;
- Enter the relevant data into the data entry management system;
- Distribute weighbridge tickets to truck drivers;
- Perform preventive visual inspections of vehicles to detect any risk of product loss or anything that could compromise the safety of the facilities;
- Report to the production manager or an on-site supervisor any non-compliant situation that could be detrimental to the environment or the safety of the facilities;
- Inform the heavy machinery operators' team leader of the information needed to complete the daily production reports;
- Inform the maintenance department of any apparent anomalies in the receiving and shipping system;
- Assist in the implementation
of activities in the Emergency Measures Plan;
- Collaborating in the activities of maintaining the hygiene of the facilities;
- To be proactive in maintaining a healthy and safe work environment. To immediately report to one's manager all incidents, non-conformities, near misses, concerns and potential legal non-conformities;
- Perform all other related tasks.
- Qualifications
and Requirements:
- Hold a Secondary School Diploma (DES);
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience;
- Experience using a computerized control system (an asset);
- French speaking required;
- Ability to write production reports and to communicate clearly in writing in French;
- Holding the certificate (card) awarded by the Joint Association for Health and Safety at Work in the Construction Sector (ASP Construction) (an advantage);
- Possess Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status or a work permit issued by the competent federal authority to hold a job in Quebec;
- Observational skills;
- Autonomy and versatility: the candidate must be willing and able to carry out their tasks without direct supervision;
- Punctuality and meticulousness in his work;
- To be able to understand training materials and documents, such as safety rules, equipment operating instructions and other procedural documents;
- Focus on results and health and safety;
- Possess strong problem-solving skills;
- Skills in interpersonal relations, teamwork and customer service;
- Good time management, prioritization skills, and the ability to manage and resolve problems quickly;
- Autonomous, versatile and organized;
- Attention to detail and initiative;
- Ability to adapt to rapid changes in an emergency context;
- Computer skills, particularly with a data entry management system and the Google suite.
Work Environment:
Permanent, full-time position with a daytime work schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate must be flexible and available during periods of high production and be able to work under pressure occasionally.
